Marthe Colotte Contributes to New DNA Data Storage Alliance Specification

The DNA Data Storage Alliance has published its second specification, DNA Stability Evaluation Method for DNA Data Storage Containment Systems v1.0, now formally available through the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). This publication was made possible through the collaborative work of several experts, including a key contribution from Marthe Colotte, a partner in the PEARL-DNA project.

This specification takes the first step in enabling objective comparison of different DNA storage containment systems in the context of data storage. The specifications define a common metric (half-life of intact strands) and a standard accelerated wear method with which to generate the underlying data set that enables characterization of degradation rates and subsequent Arrhenius curve fit to estimate the half-life metric at 25C.
